Tilcara

In the heart of the “Quebrada de Humahuaca”, declared World Heritage by Unesco, Tilcara has a wide range of archaeological museums, paintings, sculptures and photography.

There are numerous routes you can enjoy walking and cycling: Devil's Throat, Pucara Waira caves, Patos Lagoon, Juella, Maimará, the fields of Chicapa.

The village offers a lively nightlife with restaurants and folk clubs.

By the day is surely a sensory and cultural experience to visit the Municipal Market, with locals offering products from their lands.

Going North

Also, following Route 9 north we have Huacalera 15 minutes away by car, a little bit above Uquía which offers to tour the “Cerro las Señoritas” and visit its church with the Arcabuceros Angeles.

If going further we arrive at Humahuaca. From here there are two options. Continuing to the La Quiaca and Yavi and enjoy a town stopped in time or cross to Villazon and shop to take a gift. All in less than 2 hours.

Or, from Humahuaca to the east, climbing the hills we found a unique place in the Quebrada for its features: 'La terraza de cultivos de Coctaca' and 1 ½ hours we reach 'Serranías del Hornocal', 'The hill of the 20 colors' and we surely stay breathless and amazed by the artwork done by the hand of the creator.

To the South

Another option, go south where you can access Purmamarca and admire the “Cerro de los siete colores”, and from there to “Salinas Grandes” is 1 ½ hours.

You can also continue on Route 9 and go through Tumbaya, a village with a private chapel and continue heading to Yala and visit “Villa Jardin de Reyes” where nature gives us its last vestiges of virgin forest, the Yungas, offering us a bath in hot springs water.

At last the city of San Salvador de Jujuy receives us and greets us until next time.

The airport is 30 minutes away from the city and just 1 hour since we left Tilcara.
